Our Stratum + Perlite Mix is a ready-to-use 50/50 blend of Fluval Stratum and Fine Perlite by volume, creating a lightweight, highly aerated growing medium designed for plants developing, rebuilding, or transitioning their root systems.
Fluval Stratum helps maintain consistent moisture around developing roots, while Fine Perlite increases airflow and drainage throughout the root zone. Together, they create the moisture-to-air balance that makes this combination widely used for tissue culture acclimation, rooting cuttings, propagation, corms, starter plants, imports, and plant rehabilitation.
The fine, open structure is especially useful for young or sensitive root systems that need consistent access to moisture without being packed into a dense growing medium.

How to Use
Add the substrate to a clean propagation cup, nursery pot, or acclimation container. Moisten thoroughly and allow excess water to drain before planting.
Position the plant, cutting, corm, or plantlet in the substrate and gently settle the mix around the developing roots.
During rooting and acclimation, maintain appropriate moisture and humidity for the specific plant. Avoid allowing the substrate to remain continuously waterlogged.
As the plant develops a mature root system, it can remain in the mix where appropriate or be transitioned into your preferred long-term growing substrate.
